What Is a Timesheet Generator?
A timesheet records the hours someone worked in a week: who they are, which days they worked, when they started and finished, and how long they paused for a break. This page is a free online weekly timesheet generator. Fill in the form, review a live preview, and download a PDF.
It is a document generator, not payroll software, not a timer, and not an employee monitoring tool. It does not calculate pay, overtime, or tax. When you are ready to bill, use the invoice generator.
What Information a Timesheet Includes
Required generation fields are the timesheet number, employee name, and the weekly period. Daily hours are calculated from start time, end time, and break minutes when those times are present.
Company — name and address, with optional phone, email, and logo.
Employee — name, with optional ID and department.
Weekly entries — seven days with date, start, end, break, calculated hours, and optional client or project and notes.
Approval — optional employee and manager signatures, plus optional notes for the whole week.
Timesheet Example
This example is a designer's week at a small studio: weekday hours, a half day, client names, and a weekend left blank. It is a sample preview only. The generator above starts empty except for the weekly dates.

How to Create a Timesheet

- Add company details if you want them on the PDF.
- Enter start time, end time, and break minutes for each working day.

- Add signatures if you need them.
- Review the live preview and the weekly total.
- Generate and download the PDF. No account is required.
How Hours Are Calculated
Daily hours are the time between start and end, minus the break. If the end time is earlier than the start time, the shift is treated as overnight: 22:00 to 06:00 is 8.00 hours. A break longer than the elapsed time is invalid and must be corrected before you generate the PDF.
The weekly total adds only the days that have valid calculated hours. Empty weekend rows do not count. Hours are shown as decimals, such as 8.00 or 7.50. This page does not calculate overtime or pay.
Download a Timesheet as a PDF
Complete the form, review the preview, then choose Generate Timesheet. The PDF opens in the success dialog so you can view, download, or share it. The file matches the weekly table in the preview. It does not add payroll totals, and it is a practical hours record rather than a certified legal form.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a timesheet?
A timesheet is a record of hours worked over a period, usually a week. It typically names the employee, the company, the dates, start and end times, breaks, and a weekly total. It is a hours document, not a payroll calculation or an invoice.
How do I make a timesheet?
Enter the timesheet number, employee name, and weekly period. Add daily start and end times, with an optional break. Review the live preview, then generate and download a PDF. No account is required.
Can I create a weekly timesheet?
Yes. This generator is a weekly timesheet with seven daily rows. Choosing a period start fills those seven dates in order. There is no monthly or biweekly mode on this page.
Can I calculate total hours automatically?
Yes. Each day's hours are calculated from start time, end time, and break minutes. The weekly total is the sum of those daily hours. Hours are not typed in by hand.
Can I include breaks?
Yes. Enter break time in minutes for any day. Breaks are subtracted from the elapsed time between start and end. If a break is longer than that elapsed time, generation is blocked until you correct it.
Can I include client or project information?
Yes. Client or project and a short daily note are optional on each row. Leave them blank when they are not needed. The weekly table still includes those columns so the PDF layout stays consistent.
Can I download a timesheet as PDF?
Yes. Review the live preview, then choose Generate Timesheet. You can view, download, or share the PDF without creating an account. This page does not save the document to the invoice dashboard.
Can I use the timesheet for freelancers?
Yes. Freelancers and small businesses can use it to record weekly hours for a client or project. It does not create an invoice. Use the invoice generator when you are ready to bill.
Can employees use it for weekly hours?
Yes. An employee can fill in the week, add an optional signature, and download a PDF to send to a manager. Optional manager approval is a signature field, not a login or workflow.
Does the generator calculate payroll or overtime?
No. This V1 tool calculates recorded hours from start time, end time, and breaks. It does not calculate payroll, hourly pay, gross pay, tax, overtime, or jurisdiction-specific overtime rules.
